Why this site exists
The information is out there. The problem is how it is written.
The information gap
Government websites contain accurate pension information. Pension providers publish detailed scheme documentation. Financial regulators issue clear guidelines. None of this is hidden.
The problem is the language. Terms like "defined benefit", "PRSA", "AVCs", "vesting schedule", and "annuity purchase" appear without explanation. Readers who do not already understand these concepts are left to either look up each term separately or give up entirely.
Most people give up. Not because they are uninterested, but because the entry cost to understanding is too high. That gap is what Tejana Siwusi is designed to close.
Four principles that guide every page
Plain language first
Every technical term is explained the first time it appears. We do not assume prior knowledge. If a concept needs three sentences to introduce properly, we use three sentences.
No commercial interest
We do not promote pension products. We do not have affiliate relationships with providers. No content is shaped by commercial considerations. The only measure of quality is whether it helps readers understand.
Grounded in public sources
All factual content references publicly available government guidelines. When those guidelines change, the content is updated. We do not invent rules or extrapolate beyond what official sources state.
Education, not advice
Understanding how pensions work in general is different from knowing what to do in your specific situation. We cover the former. For the latter, a qualified financial adviser is the right resource.
Informed people make better use of available resources
We do not believe that understanding pensions requires a financial background. It requires clear explanations and a willingness to engage. Our role is to provide the first part. The second part is yours.
Tejana Siwusi covers four specific topics: how workplace pensions work, what the state pension covers and does not cover, why starting earlier has a larger effect than increasing contributions later, and what vesting means when you change employers. These four areas cover the questions most people have when they first start trying to understand their pension situation.
